The parenchymatous or sclerenchymatous conjunctive tissue is found between xylem and phloem strands of dicotyledonous root. The cells of conjunctive tissue store food if they are parenchymatous, or they provide mechanical support if sclerenchymatous. They do not take part in the formation of cambium.
