(3) Climate change poses a global challenge and India plays a dual role in responding to the challenge as a responsible member of the international community and in its own interest. India attended the 19th BASIC Ministerial Meeting on Climate Change(BASIC) in October 2014. The BASIC Group of countries is made up of South Africa, India,China and Brazil. The meeting provided Ministers from BASIC countries an opportunity to discuss important issues relating to the United Nations Framework Convention on Cl imate Change (UNFCCC) negotiations and matters pertaining to the Ad hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP).
