(1) Kilobyte is a unit of memory or data equal to 1,024 (210)bytes in binary systems. However,in decimal systems, the International System of Units(SI) defines the prefix kilo as 1000 (103); therefore, one kilobyte is 1000 bytes. Technically,therefore, a kilobyte is 1,024 bytes, but it is often used loosely as a synonym for 1,000 bytes.
