(4) Sarojini Naidu, Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur actively participated in the Salt Satyagraha and Dandi March of 1930. Sarojini Naidu led a women’s group during this movement. The 240-mile Salt March from Sabarmati to Dandi was Gandhi’s masterly stroke against the British monopoly over the production and sale of salt. After Gandhi scooped up some salt water and simply manufactured salt, others like Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay boiled sea water in pots and beaches. Two other women in the Salt Satyagraha were Durgabai Deshmukh of Andhra Pradesh and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur of Punjab.
