The Wilkinson Law came into existence in Chota Nagpur in 1837 in order to contain mutinies and revolts of the adivasis. Captain Wilikinson made rules for those staying in the Kolhan region which remained in force to an extent and the adivasis remained quiet. However, even after this law the external intervention in the tribal land and their life did not come to an end.
