Mahatma Buddha gave first sermon to the five Brahmins who had left him while he was doing rigorous spiritual practices. The place where he gave the sermon is Sarnath or Rishipattan or Mrigdav. This event is known as dhammachakpavattan or dharma chakra pravartan. At Sarnath Buddha established a snagha where five Brahmins and Shreshti-yash of Varanasi along with his fifty friends joined him.
