Amines Part 2

Cyanohydrin is formed when carbonyl compound reacts with HCN in the presence of alkali (NaOH).
HCN+OH−⇌CN−+H2O So, X is alkali i.e. NaOH.
Cyanohydrin on reacting with LiAlH4 forms amine. LiAlH4 being strong reducing agent reduces −C≣N to −CH2−NH2.
