Amines Part 1

Methyl ketone gives haloform reaction to form carboxylic acid salt which on heating with NH3 forms amide. Amide is reduced to amine by LiAlH4.(a) Benzamide undergoes Hofmann bromamide degradation when treated with bromine and aqueous sodium hydroxide, to produces benzylamine.(b) Benzene nitrile undergoes alkaline hydrolysis to form acidamide which further give Hofmann bromamide degradation.(d) Acid chloride undergoes nucleophilic substitution with NH3 to form acid amide. Acid amide undergoes Hoffmann bromamide degradation.
