A large vacuum chamber of volume ‘V’ is connected to a narrow cylindrical pipewhich is initially filled with an ideal gas (γ = 1.4) at temperature T0 , pressure P0 and volume V0 ( ≪ V ) . The gas is enclosed by a light insulating piston (which isfree to move) and the air outside is at constant pressure P0 .
