IIT JEE Advanced 2007 Paper 2

Among the resonance structures, the one which has more number of covalent bonds, all atoms with octet of electrons, less separation of opposite charges and more dispersal of charge is more stable than others. In the given structures, the resonance structure in option (A) is the least stable because the same charges (positive charges) are present close to each other, on adjacent atoms.
