Total salaries of A and B = Rs 40,000
A spend = 85 % of his salary
B spend = 95% of his salary

Income = Expenditure + Saving
Calculation
Let the salary of A and B be a and b respectively
Saving of A = a - 85% of a = 15% of a
Saving of B = b - 95% of b = 5% of b
Savings are same of both
So, 15% of a = 5% of b
⇒ a : b = 1 : 3
So, x + 3x = Rs. 40,000
⇒ x = 10,000
Salary of A = x = Rs. 10,000
∴ The correct answer is Rs. 10,000
