A’s age = x years
∴ B’s age = 2x years
∴ A’s age after 4 years
= (x + 6) years
B’s age after 8 years
= (2x + 10) years
According to the question,
2x + 10 – x – 6 = 22
⇒ x + 4 = 22
⇒x = 22 – 4 = 18 years
∴ B’s present age
= (2x + 2) years
= (2 × 18 + 2) years = 38 years
