(3) Tim Berners-Lee, an English computer scientist, invented the World Wide Web in 1989. He implemented the first successful communication between a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) client and server via the Internet in November 1989. Berners-Lee is currently the director of the World Wide Web Consortium which oversees the Web’s continued development.
