Let the common ratio of incomes = x
Ratio of incomes of the two persons = 9 : 7
∴ Let monthly salary of the two persons be 9x and 7x.
Now, ratio of their expenditures = 4 : 3
Monthly savings = Rs. 2000
Monthly expenditure of the two persons = (9x – 2000) and (7x – 2000)
According to question,

⇒ 28x – 27x = 8000 – 6000
x = 2000
Monthly income of one person = 9 × 2000 ⇒ Rs. 18,000
