(d) Area of the required polygon with vertices (x, x), (x +1, x +1) and (x, x + 2) is

=1/2|\table \x,\x,1;\x+1,\x+1,1;\x,\x+2,1|

Using operation

\R_1→\R_2-\R_1, \R_3→\R_3-\R_1

=1/2|\table \x,\x,1;1,1,0;\0,\2,0|

Expanding along

\C_3

= 1{ 2 - 0 } =2.
