The thief and the policeman run at the rate of $10\mathrm{km}∕\mathrm{h}$ and $11\mathrm{km}∕\mathrm{h}$ respectively.
Formula used:
Distance = Speed × Time
Calculation:
Distance travelled by policeman in $6\min =11\times \left(\frac{6}{60}\right)=1.1\mathrm{km}=1100\mathrm{m}$
Distance travelled by thief in $6\min =10\times \left(\frac{6}{60}\right)=1\mathrm{km}=1000\mathrm{m}$
The policeman covers distance $=200-\left(1100-1000\right)=100\mathrm{m}$
∴ Required distance between them after $6\min \mathrm{is}100\mathrm{m}$ .
