The ratio of the present ages of A and B is 6 : 5
Five years ago, the ages ratio was 5 : 4
Calculation:
Let the present age of A = 6x and B = 5x
Five years ago,
$\frac{\left(6\mathrm{x}-5\right)}{\left(5\mathrm{x}-5\right)}=\frac{5}{4}$
$\Rightarrow 24\mathrm{x}-20=25\mathrm{x}-25$
$\Rightarrow \mathrm{x}=5$
Present age of A = 6 × 5 = 30 years
Present age of B = 5 × 5 = 25 years
After 10 years the ages of A and B is 40 years and 35 years.
∴ The ratio of ages is 40 : 35 is 8 : 7
