each number is equal to the sum of the three numbers preceding it.
What is

x+y

?

Solution:

First find

z: z+5+7=16

, therefore,

z=4

. Now,

y+4+5=7

making

y=(-2)

Now we can find

x: x+(-2)+4=5

, so,

x=3

. Hence,

x+y=3+(-2)=1
