Solution:

One is going north and the other is going west. The distance can be calculated using the Pythagorean theorem. One made a distance of

1.6 × 5=8 {\km}

. The second one did

1.2 × 5=6 {\km}

. The distance between them is the square root of

(64 +36)=10 {\km}
