Solution:

Vertical displacement = AB – AC

AB = DB’

So, Vertical displacement

= DB’ – AC

Now,

DB’ = OB’ – OD = R – ecosθ

AC = OC – OA = R – e
So, Vertical displacement = (R – ecos𝜃) – (R – e) = e – ecos𝜃 = e(1-cos𝜃) = e(1 - cos𝜔𝑡)
