Reluctance power is given by

P=\;{V_{t}^{2}}/{2}(\;{1}/{X_{q}}-\;{1}/{X_{d}}) \sin 2 δ

(V_{t}

is the line voltage)
So, reluctance torque is

T=\;{P}/{ω_{s}}=\;{V_{t}^{2}}/{2 ω_{s}}(\;{1}/{X_{q}}-\;{1}/{X_{d}}) \sin 2 δ

So, torque is maximum when

2 δ=90^{∘}

δ=45^{∘}
