If the Reserve Bank of India adopts an expantionist open market operations policy, this means it will buy securities from non-government holders. Under this method the RBI sales and purchases the government securities and treasury bills in the open market. When RBI wants to reduce inflation or reduce money supply in the market, it sells the government securities and treasury bills to the financial institutions and vice-versa.
