Suppose the sum is Rs. x;
Since compound interest compounded half yearly:
Rate of interest = (12.5/2)% = 1/16 and t = 2 years
∴CI=x×(+1/16)2−x= 33x/256
SI = [x × 12.5 × 1]/100 = x/8
⇒ 33x/256 – x/8 = 187.5
⇒ x/256 = 187.5
⇒ x = 48000
∴ Sum of money invested = Rs. 48000
