Let four years ago mother’s age be 6x and daughter age be x.
⇒ Present age of mother = 6x + 4
⇒ Present age of daughter = x + 4
Sum of present ages of mother and daughter is 50 years,
⇒ 7x + 8 = 50
⇒ x = 6
∴ Present age of mother = 6x + 4 = 40 years
