On successive discounts of x% and y%,
Total discount = (x + y – xy/100)%
As the successive discounts are 20% and 15%,
Total discount = [20 + 15 – (15 × 20)/100]% = (35 – 3)% = 32%
Discount = 32% of 1500 = (32/100) x 1500 = Rs. 480
∴ Selling price = Marked price – Discount = 1500 – 480 = Rs. 1020
