Given:
A policeman notices a thief from a distance of 200 m.
The thief starts running and the policeman chases him.
The thief and the policeman run at the rate of 10 km/h and 11 km/h respectively.
Formula used:
Distance = Speed × Time
Calculation:
Distance travelled by policeman in 6 min = 11 × (6/60) = 1.1 km = 1100 m
Distance travelled by thief in 6 min = 10 × (6/60) = 1 km = 1000 m
The policeman covers distance = 200 - (1100 - 1000) = 100 m
∴ Required distance between them after 6 min is 100 m.
