GIVEN:
A started a business with Rs. 5600 and after a few months B joined with a capital of Rs. 6400. At the end of one year, the profit is divided in the ratio 3 : 2respectively.
CONCEPT:
Profit will be shared according to the Investment and the time for which the investment is done.
CALCULATION:
Suppose B joined for ‘x’ months:
Ratio in which the profit will be shared between A and B
$=\left(5600\times 12\right):\left(6400\times \mathit{x}\right)$
$=672:64\mathit{x}$
= $21:2\mathit{x}$
As given the profit is divided in the ratio 3 : 2 respectively
.⇒ $21:2\mathit{x}=3:2$
⇒ $\mathit{x}=7$
∴ B joined after $5\left(=12\mathit{–}7\right)$ months from the start
