Formula:
SP = CP × (100 + Profit%) / 100
Calculation:
Let cost price of the article be 100x
Selling price of the article = 100x × (117 / 100) = 117x
According to the question
117x - 100x = 289
⇒ 17x = 289
⇒ x = 289 / 17
⇒ x = 17
∴ Selling price of the article = 117 × 17 = Rs. 1989
