A is older than B by 7 years. After four years, the age of B will become half of that of Calculate the sum of their present age (in years).

Solution:

Suppose, present ages of ‘A’ & ‘B’ are x and y respectively

\;{1}/{2}(x+7+4)=x+4

⇒x+11=2x+8

∴x=3

Sum of their present ages

= x + x + 7

=2x+7

=2×3+7=13

years
