While dictation involves the transcription of spoken text; and it is used as a test of language skill which is similar to spelling bees in the English-speaking world; it helps the learners to increase their concentration and improve their spelling and enhance their listening comprehension. The one thing it doesn't help the learners with is improving their reading skill as it involves listening and writing with no verbal task from the learners' end.
