A teacher needs to ensure that all learners in her class feel accepted and valued. To do this, the teacher should:

look down upon children from ‘disadvantaged’ background so that they feel they have to work harder
find out students who speak ‘good’ English and are from ‘rich’ backgrounds and present them as role models
get to know the social and cultural background of her students and encourage diverse opinions in the class
make strict rules and punish children who do not follow them
