Ravi has three dozen chocolates. He gave one-third of them to his neighbour, one-sixth to Rehana and onefouth to his sister. How many chocolates are left with him?

Solution:

Total number of chocolates given to the neighbour

=\;{1}/{3} ×(36)+\;{1}/{6} ×(36)+\;{1}/{4} ×(36) \;\; ( ∴ 1 \;\text " dozen "\;=12)

=12+6+9=27

No. of chocolates left after distribution

=36-27=9
