Abhi is twice as old as his daughter. Five years ago, his age was four times his daughter’s age. If the present age of the daughter is x years, then :

4(x + 5) = 2(2x – 5)
2(x – 5) = 4(2x + 5)
2(x – 5) = 4(2x – 5)
4(x – 5) = 2x – 5

Validate

Solution:

Let the present age of Abhi be y years and the age ofhis daughter be x years.
According to the question,

y=2x

...(1)
Now, 5 years ago

y–5=4(x–5)

Form equation (1),

2x–5=4(x–5)

Hence, the required relation is

2x–5=4(x–5).
