The perimeter of a trapezium is 58 cm and sum of its nonparallel sides is 20 cm. If its area is 152

, then the distance between the parallel sides, in cms, is :

Solution:

Area of trapezium

=1/2×\text "Sum of the length of parallel sides"× \text "Height"

Now, Perimeter of a trapezium = 58
⇒ Sum of parallel sides + Sum of non-parallel sides = 58
∴Sum of parallel sides

+20=58

Sum of parallel sides

=58–20=38

Now, Area of Trapezium is given.

⇒1/2×\text " sum of the length of parallel sides"×height=152

⇒\;\;{1}/{2}×38×\;\text"Height"\;=152

=\;\;{152×2×8}/{38}=8{cm}
