One side of a triangle is 5 cm and the other side is 10 cm and its perimeter is P cm, where P is an integer. The least and the greatest possible values of P are respectively:

20 and 28
21 and 29
22 and 27
19 and 29

Validate

Solution:

Let third side = x
Then, P = 5 + 10 + x
Third side x = P – 15
∵ The sum of two sides > third sides
5 + 10 > P – 15
P < 30

∵ P_\max = 29

The difference of two sides < third sides
|5 – 10| < P – 15
5 < P – 15
P > 20
∴

P_\min = 21
