Solution:

Distance between two places is 12 km.

12{km}=12×1000×100{cm}=1200000{cm}

Let distance between two places in map = x cm
From Map scale ratio,
1:25000::x:1200000

⇒\;\;{1}/{25000}=\;\;{x}/{1200000}

∴x=\;\;{1200000}/{25000}=48{cm}
