Solution:

Cost price of first article = 1500
Selling price of first article

=1500+1500×\;\;{6}/{100}=1590

Cost price of second article

=1500

Selling price of second article

=1500-1500×\;\;{4}/{100}=1440

Total cost price of both articles

=1500+1500=3000

Total selling price of both articles

=1590+1440=3030

Required

\%=\;\;{30×100}/{3000}=1\%
