Children construct ‘naive theories’ about various phenomenon. In this background a teacher should challenge these conceptions of the children through dialogue. Thus in terms of a child’s understanding of science, ‘naive belief’ would mean an excessively simple, straight forward, and uncomplicated belief about the worldview which is unaffected by the critical judgement and analysis-laden view of the world constructed by the scientific community. Similarly naive theories and naive conceptions can be understood in analogous manner.
