'In class 1, the ratio of girls to boys is 4 : 3. In class 2 the ratio is 8 : 6. Suppose each class has 28 students. Are these ratios equivalent?
She gets the following responses from two students :

	Class - 1 → 4 : 3					Class - 2 → 8 : 6

Student - 2	Class - 1 → $\;{4}/{3}$					Class - 2→ $\;{8}/{6}$ = $\;{4\;×\;2}/{3\;×\;2}$ = $\;{4}/{3}$

The teacher should :

give full marks to both the students as both the methods are different but correct to solve the problem
give full marks to both the students but advise student (1) not to use this method in written examination
give zero marks to student 1 as mathematical problems should be represented by numerical symbols only
give full marks to both the students but asks student 1 to discuss the formal strategy with student-2 for future use
