Earth is considered to be source of infinite charges having zero potential. When a body is connected to earth, it also acquires same potential as Earth i.e. zero. By this process excess charges flow through the body to the ground or the body acquires the opposite charges from the ground to make the body electrically neutral. Thus, electrons flow from earth to the body to neutralise the positively charged body.
