Dil. and conc. HNO3 has no effect on Al. Aluminium is rendered passive by nitric acid due to the formation of a thin film of oxide (Al2O3) on its surface. 2‌Al+6HNO3‌ (conc. ‌)→Al2O3+6NO2+3H2O Aluminium reacts with H2SO4 to libreate H2 gas. 2‌Al+3H2SO4→Al2(SO4)3+3H2↑ Aluminium also reacts with aqueous alkali and liberates dihydrogen. ‌2‌Al(s)+2‌NaOH(aq)+6H2O(l)→ ‌2‌Na[Al(OH)4](aq)+3H2(g) Aluminium dissolves in dil. HCl and liberates dihydrogen. 2‌Al(s)+6‌HCl(aq)→2Al3+(aq)+6Cl−(aq)+3H2(g)
