In a company there are 252 engineers in which the ratio of the number of electronics engineers and computer engineers is

after recruitment of some more computer engineers. The average age of all the engineers is now 22 yr and the average age of the computer engineers is 2 yr less than the average age of electronics engineers.

Solution:

Initially number of engineers

=252

∴ Number of electronic engineers

={252 ×2}/{3}=168

and number of computer engineers

=252-168=84

Let the new number of computer engineers recruited be

x

∴ According to the question,

{168}/{84+x}={1}/{1} \⇒ 168=84+x

⇒

x=84

Total age of all the engineers

=336 ×22=7392 {\yr}

Let the average age of all electronic engineers be

yr.
∴

168 ×y+168(y-2)=7392

⇒

336 y-336=7392

y=23 {\yr}

∴ Average age of all computer engineers

=23-2=21 {\yr}

∴ Only Statement B and C are correct.
