Solution:

Let Steve’s salary = x units
Then, John’s salary = 80% of x

=x ×{80}/{100}= {4}/{5} x

units
and, Tom’s salary =

=150 \%

{4}/{5} x

= {4}/{5} x×{150}/{100}

units

= {4}/{5} x ×{3}/{2}= {6}/{5} x

units
∴ The ratio of Steve’s salary to Tom’s salary

=x: {6}/{5} x=5: 6
