The minute hand travels $6^{\circ }$ per min and hour hand travels ${0.5}^{\circ }$ per minute and the time reference for such questions is always .
At the minute hand would have effectively travelled for 20 min covering $20\times 6={120}^{\circ }$
The hour hand would have travelled for $5\times 60+20=320\mathit{m}\mathit{i}\mathit{n}$
and it covers $320\times 0.5={160}^{\circ }$
$\therefore$ The angle between the two hands $={160}^{\circ }-{120}^{\circ }={40}^{\circ }$
