The Indian Railways is estimated to have posted an all-time high revenue of ₹ 1.68 lakh crore for the last financial year. The passenger segment is estimated to have posted revenue of almost ₹ 48000 crore last fiscal year, up ₹ 2000 crore from the year before, while freight revenue is estimated at ₹ 1.09 lakh crore as against ₹ 1.04 lakh crore in fiscal 2016. Non-core revenue, such as from scrap sales and advertising rights and other income totalled ₹11000 crore.
