X/A + Y/B + 1/C

= 0 always passes through a fixed point. Which of the following is the fixed point?

Solution:

(a) Since, A, B and C are in harmonic progression.
So,

2/B = 1/A + 1/C

⇒

1/A - 2/B + 1/C = 0

Thus, the line

X/A + Y/B + 1/C

= 0 passes through the point
(1 , - 2)
