From a well-shuffled pack of 52 cards, three cards are drawn at random. Find the probability of drawing an ace, a king and a jack.

Solution:

(a) There are 4 aces, 4 kings and 4 jacks and their selection can be made by following ways.

^12C_1 × ^8C_1 × ^4C_1

= 12 x 8 x 4
n(E) = 12 x 8 x 4
Total selections =

= 52 x 51 x 50
∴ P(E) =

{12 × 8 × 4}/{52 × 51 × 50}
