For what value of K, the system of equations Kx + 2y = 2 and 3x + y = 1 will be coincident?

Solution:

d ) Two linear equations will be coincident of there are infinite number of solutions i.e., for equations

a_1x + b_1y =c_1

a_2x + b_2y = c_2

Solution will be infinite, if

a_1/a_2= b_1/b_2=c_1/c_2

i.e.

k/3=2/1=2/1

∴ k = 6
