Solution:

Let the required height of the tree be x metres.
Then 80 : 16 : : x : 9

{80}/{16}

x/9

⇒ 16x = 9 × 80
x =

{9×80}/{16}

= 45 metres
Hence, the height of the tree = 45 metres.
