Let the price of chairs and tables be x and y.
So,
3x + 4y = 20,500 ......(i)
4x + 3y = 18,000 ......(ii)
Multiplying equation (i) with 4 and equation (ii)
with 3 and subtracting, we get
12x + 16y = 82,000
12x + 9y = 54,000
7y = 28,000
y = 4,000
Substituting the value of y in equation (ii) we get,
4x + 3 (4,000) = 18,000
4x + 12,000 = 18,000
4x = 6,000
x = 1,500
Difference between the prices of one table and a chair is 4,000 - 1,500 = Rs 2,500
